Beth Yeshua is a ministry to bring the good news about Messiah Yeshua (Jesus) to the Jewish People as well as to the Gentiles. We believe that the Bible, both the Tenakh (Old Testament) and the Brit Hadasha (New Testament) are the written, infallible Word of God, and following and believing in Yeshua (Jesus) is the most Jewish thing that you could do!
Yeshua (Jesus) was a Jew, born in Israel. The Bible, the Tenakh (Old Testament) and the Brit Hadasha (New Testament) was written by Jews, to Jews, about the Jewish Messiah. The early first century church was almost entirely Jewish!
Yeshua (Jesus) followed, kept and fulfilled the Law of Moses, and introduced the New Covenant, the Brit Hadasha (New Testament), promised through the Hebrew prophet Jeremiah when he said,
“Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the Lord: But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people” Jeremiah 31: 31-34
Just like the Tanakh, the New Testament is not a Gentile book. It was written by Jews for Jews about the Jewish Messiah and atonement through grace.
Jews today have a problem! Where is your atonement? According to the Law of Moses, a blood sacrifice MUST be made for there it be an atonement. God said through Moses, “For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul” Lev. 17:11
If there is no blood sacrifice, there is no atonement. The blood sacrifice had to be made by the High Priest in the Temple. The priesthood and the temple are gone. Did God leave his people without atonement or did he provide a new, better way? Remember atonement under the Law had to be done continually.
Under the New Covenant, Messiah Yeshua was to come and make his life an atonement, once and for all, to all who would accept it. The Hebrew prophet Isaiah wrote this about the Messiah, “Yet it was the LORD’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the LORD makes his life an offering for sin, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand” Isaiah. 53:10 Praying, fasting and doing mitzvahs on Yom Kippur do not bring atonement. Your Rabbi is mistaken. The Law requires a blood sacrifice. Yeshua is your sacrifice for sin, if you will believe and accept it.
